More about SONOS:
Emerging in the fall of '09 from the Los Angeles vocal scene, Sonos turned the a cappella genre on its head with bold vocal+electronic interpretations of popular indie material. On their Verve debut "SonoSings" the group reinvented Radiohead, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes & Imogen Heap, and dazzled with a dark, trip-hop take on a Jackson 5 classic.
Special appearances over the past two years include live radio sessions on NPR's Weekend Edition, KCRW, BBC Americana, Studio 360 and Sirius/XM; performances at SXSW '11, Sundance '10, Celtic Connections, ASCAP Awards and L.A. Ovation Awards; collaborations with Margaret Atwood and the Young _ Heart Chorus at UCLA Live; plus performances at colleges, clubs, radio stations and theaters all over the country and in the U.K.
In further collaborations, Sonos performed with Sara Bareilles at the Orpheum in LA and sang on an Ozomatli remix as part of their "Ozomatli vs. KCRW Soundclash" EP. "Gods & Marionettes", their stunning collaboration with the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company and playwright David Bridel, premiered this past year in Los Angeles at the Ford Ampitheater and USC's Bovard Auditorium. The piece, which combines the live vocal accompaniment of Sonos with a small group of dancers and a single actor, is a powerful artistic exploration of the concept of fate vs. free will.
The group won the 2010 CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award) for Best Pop/Rock song of the year, numerous ACAs (A Cappella Community Awards) including Best Group, Album and Vocalist, and the 2011 CARA for Best Holiday Album for their 2010 release "December Songs", a stunning collection of classics and originals inspired by the winter holiday season.
2011 sees Sonos releasing and touring in support of a new album, which will be entirely self-produced and feature all original material. The group looks forward to combining their passions for songwriting and innovative vocal music on this third studio release, as well as expanding upon the use of electronic effects in their live show.

Drawing from extensive and varied musical experiences, Snowday brings a fresh take on the a cappella sound. Building from the genre's roots in classical, spiritual, barbershop and doo-wop, members take a classic sound and give it a unexpected twist. With powerful solos, tight harmonies and jaw-dropping beats, Snowday creates the illusion of a full rockband without using instruments. Students will hear songs they know in new ways, be introduced to new sounds and learn how to create their own music using nothing but their mouths.
Class Acts Arts brings a broad range of artistic disciplines and cultural traditions directly into the community to strengthen education, stimulate creative self-expression and inspire a fresh view of the world. SNOWDAY VOCAL BAND
Snowday was founded in early 2008 with the mission of bringing a cappella and vocal music into mainstream education. Started as a collaboration of several DC area groups, Snowday brings a diverse background of performance and education to the stage. All members of the group started singing and playing instruments from a very young age, discovering contemporary a cappella in high school and college.
The group loves bringing a dose of fun to community and private events. As part of the Class Acts Arts roster, Snowday travels to dozens of schools each year and members are very active in the local and national a cappella community.
AMANDA ALDAG - SOPRANO
Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Amanda started singing as a bona fide hobby when the music teacher picked her to do a solo in front of the whole school at the tender age of six. That performance was followed up with an imitation of JEM and the Rockers for her second grade music performance (diagonal haircut included).
The choirs and ensembles continued through high school. At Hamilton College Amanda was a member and musical director of the schools oldest all-female a cappella group Special K. After graduation she moved to rural Japan for 4 years where she founded, trained and performed with an award-winning international a cappella group called the Amigos. In 2006, Amanda became a founding member of the CARA nominated Contemporary A Cappella League group Euphonism , with whom she is currently a director, manager and performer. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for CASA , supporting the Contemporary A Cappella League among other projects.
When she's not singing random back up parts along with the radio or putting the stereo on repeat to help with the latest arrangement project, Amanda enjoys swimming, skiing, cooking, disguising her Philly accent or traveling with her husband and son. She lists her musical influences as everything from Mariah Carey to Michael Bublé to Eminem and declares herself as Elliott Yamin's biggest fan.
KRISTIN LOBIONDO - ALTO
Kristin LoBiondo was raised in Cary, North Carolina. Her passion for singing began at a young age (when she could finally reach the piano keys), and she quickly became involved in anything where she could make music. She played various instruments from grade school through college where she earned her BA in Music with a vocal-concentration at Elon University. At Elon, she was in every ensemble offered, from the vocal jazz group to the drumline in the marching band.
Kristin's giant leap into the a cappella world began after college while working at Duke University. She was a member of a community group in Durham, NC called Second Shift where she served two terms as business director. Aside from Snowday, Kristin is also a member of Vox Populi , a DC Contemporary A Cappella League group. Since 2009, Kristin has been working with the Contemporary A Cappella Society, and is currently Assistant Director of Events. She counts down the hours from the end of one festival to the next!
Outside of a cappella, Kristin moved to DC in November 2010, works at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda and can't get enough of 80s music and the NBC Comedy Thursday line-up.
WARD FERGUSON - BARITONE
Originally from Houston, TX, Ward performed voraciously as a child and teenager. He was uprooted in his sixteenth year and moved to LA (that's Lower Alabama). He received a BFA in Theatre from Auburn University.
Ward worked as an actor and lighting designer for theatres in the southeast as well as producing and designing for conventions and industrials from sea to shining sea. Ward has been privileged to create roles in many original stage works from Orlando to Lincoln Center. Some of his roles in published works have been Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, John the Baptist/Judas and Jesus in multiple productions of Godspell, Eddie/Dr. Scott in The Rocky Horror Show and, most recently, Steven Kodaly in She Loves Me. Ward has also performed at both Disneyworld and Universal Studios.
An avid musician, Ward has served as Musical Director for several regional and children's theatres. He has also worked extensively as an a cappella vocalist, specializing in 50's do-wop, and plays keyboards for several of those bands that use instruments. Ward thanks Snowday and Skyline for letting him sing a cappella again. Ward also thanks his dogs for their understanding when he attends rehearsals and their patience when he practices at home.
CHARLIE FRIDAY - BASS
Charlie began singing in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. at an early age. A graduate of the Landon School, he studied vocal arranging and directing under the tutelage of Thaddeus Cavuoti while participating in both the chorus and madrigal groups. When he was a senior, he founded and directed the pop group Gang of Six. Charlie went on to study classical vocal performance at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, and Wake Forest University.
Charlie has been a section leader, soloist, and cantor at Christ Episcopal Church in Rockville for 15 years, and recently toured England with the ensemble. He performed solos in Westminster Abbey, Ely Cathedral, St. Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle, and led Evensong Services at Canterbury Cathedral. Charlie has performed professionally around the country in many classical and pop vocal ensembles, on tours in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and the Grand Bahamas. He has also participated in Master Classes with Ben Heppner and Denise Graves, and is currently studying with Don Wiggins.
In college, Charlie was a member and director of the Vanderbilt Variations, and then directed Wake Forest Temporary Reprieve, while continuing to perform with Gang of Six. He recorded and produced several albums with these groups, as well as sharing a billing with Paul McCartney and The B-52s at a gala charity event in Los Angeles with Gang of Six. Charlie currently performs bass and vocal percussion with the Washington, D.C. pop group Euphonism , which was recently nominated for two CARA awards for their EP, which he produced and mixed.
When Charlie is not involved in all things musical, he enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with his wonderful fiancée.
CHRIS ABRAMSON - VOCAL PERCUSSION
Chris has been an instrumentalist his whole life, starting at around age 7 when his father began teaching him the saxophone. With those early lessons he found his muse, and music has been his passion ever since. His first formal instruction in music began in the fourth grade man-handling a violin and then a cello. When his middle school program didn't offer strings, with his parents encouragement, he took advantage of his home taught knowledge of the saxophone. He joined the band and never looked back, going on to major in music and win an audition to become a military musician.
Chris began his life as a vocal percussionist with a fairly random encounter on the campus of The Florida State University. When a friend asked him to attend her yahtzee concert, he agreed and fell head over heels for a cappella music. The group he saw that night was FSUs All-Night Yahtzee and with them he became an award winning vocal percussionist.
Chris is currently the vocal percussionist for Snowday, and the assistant musical director for Vox Populi. Both groups are based in the DC area.
JOHN BAER - GUEST PERFORMER
